Window replacement in 2026: $620 per window average. A 10-window home runs $6,200. But the per-window range is $350 for vinyl to $1,800 for wood-clad.

The decision that saves you $2,000: pocket install versus full-frame. If your existing window frames are square and rot-free, a pocket install slides the new window into the old frame. Labor is $150 to $250 per window. Full-frame removal and replacement is $300 to $500 per window. On 10 windows, that is a $1,500 to $2,500 difference.

But here is the catch: if there is any rot or water damage, you must do full-frame. Skipping it means the new window sits on a compromised frame and fails in 5 years.

One more thing: the ENERGY STAR tax credit gives you 30 percent back, up to $600. On a $6,200 project, that is $600 in your pocket.
